Obtained his Medical Degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon and later finished his training as a resident in pediatrics in the Tecnologico de Monterrey School of Medicine Residency Program, both in Monterrey, Mexico. He practiced as a pediatric emergency physician and in his private practice for 13 years. He was appointed a professor of pediatrics and clinical research in the pediatric residency program in the Tecnologico de Monterrey, where he also performed clinical research activities. In 2003 he founded the Tecnologico Monterrey Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine. In 2012 he was appointed Director of Cochrane Mexico until 2013 when he emigrates to Canada to start his Ph.D. studies at McMaster (HRM programme), conducting several projects related to Clinical Guideline Development, GRADE, and Cochrane. He completed his Ph.D. in 2017, going later into a Post-doctoral position in the Department of Pediatrics in the McMaster Children’s Hospital. In 2019 he starts a new position as Clinical Research Officer in the Canadian Agency of Drugs and Technology in Health (CADTH).
